A  native of Providence, Rhode Island, Stephan Silipigni is based in Little Compton, Rhode Island. While holding academic degrees in philosophy and theology, he studied art history and art at Rhode Island School of Design, Providence College, and the University of Maryland. In tandem with his formal training, Stephan describes himself basically as a self-taught artist, culling from his New England background to capture the magnificence of nature in a variety of mediums. He primarily works with oils but also watercolor and acrylics. Whether capturing the power of a sunrise, the serenity of a sunset, the isolation of a lone boat caught in a desolate marsh, or the majesty of billowing sails on the open seas, the casual viewer is at once transported and transformed into an active participant.
